The economic crisis that Venezuela is going through has forced thousands of owners to abandon their pets, leaving tens of thousands of dogs wandering the streets, hungry and sick. At SAI, we have stepped forward to become their refuge and hope.
During the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2022, thanks to your generous support, we achieved historic milestones at our SAI-A&G sanctuary and throughout our network of partners.
Nutritional Impact: Feeding Tomorrow
Hunger is the most immediate threat to rescued dogs. During this period, SAI distributed a total of 5,275 lbs of dog food. These resources not only sustained the animals at our main sanctuary but also extended to 18 partner shelters, ensuring that no dog under our protection went without a nutritious meal.
Expansion and Critical Care: Improving Our Facilities
To offer world-class care, infrastructure is vital. This quarter, we completed critical construction projects that raise the standard of care in Venezuela:
Phase 3 Completion: Expanding our shelter areas to accommodate more rescued animals.
New Main Gate: We reinforced perimeter security to guarantee the protection of the animals and staff 24 hours a day.
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Building: A new specialized medical unit to treat the most difficult cases, providing surgeries and constant monitoring for dogs in critical condition.
A New Beginning for 380 Brave Souls
Today, more than 380 dogs are receiving food, emergency medical care, and most importantly, the love that was denied to them on the streets. Every vaccine, every treatment, and every bowl of food is possible thanks to people like you.
